Guillamón approaching first preseason with senior squad
In the coming days, Hugo Guillamón will begin his first preseason with the Valencia CF first team. The centre back, who recently renewed his contract with the club and was promoted to the senior squad on a full-time basis, was one of the success stories of last season, and is looking forward to another new experience that will help his growth as a player.
In the past two campaigns, Guillamón has been one of the last players back to preseason training, due to his involvement in European Championship wins at Under-17 and Under-19 level for Spain, as well as an Under-17 World Cup triumph.

Whilst at a young age a return to the Ciudad Deportiva was tinged with slight sadness, as it meant the end of summer holidays, the defender has always been keen to meet back up with his teammates and thrown himself into the task at hand. He has undertaken preseason training at every level within the VCF Academy.
When part of the Infantil B team, they played a summer tournament in Rome which helped them to learn how to compete against other big sides. However, just before the competition began, Guillamón suffered an ankle injury.

He spent the duration of the tournament’s early stages rehabbing the injury, eventually coming back to play in the semifinal.
The next year he would play the entirety of the competition, from start to finish, at full fitness. That same determination and progress will stand him in good stead in the coming weeks, as he begins a very special preseason.
